TWO NICE VIDEOS FROM THE PROGRAMME
Immelda May & The Dubliners: Lovely version of Barney’s
“I wish I had someone to love me”
The Rare Ould Times
The Abbey Tavern in Howth was the venue
for the Christmas Day Geantraí na Nollag
programme on TG4. Barney's house is just
few steps away from the pub. You just need
to take the narrow gap way between the
two houses on the right side of the pub
building. The Abbey Tavern was renowned
folk venue of the early sixties where The
Dubliners began their musical careers.

Special Christmas Day music programme
"Geantraí na Nollag" on TG4, the Irish
language television channel. The programme
was recorded at the Abbey Tavern in Howth.
The Dubliners are celebrating their fifty-year
career and remembering especially their
brilliant banjoist and great story-teller Barney
McKenna. Barney's band mate & fiddler of The
Dubliners John Sheahan recited his touching
tribute poem ‘Banjo Barney’.
